I had just finished pitching my first TV show. I was standing in front of the execs, my forehead lightly sweating from the nerves. I was a bit out of breath as I had just word-vomitted the entire pitch, ending with “And for up to 12 seasons we’d follow Officers Johnathan Black and Reginald Blue in… Johnathan & Reginald!”

After a moment of silence I sat back down.

“Hey,” piped up a junior development exec sitting behind the main decision makers, “Why isn’t it called Black & Blue?”
“Huh?”
“If their last names are Black and Blue, it feels like a missed opportunity not to call the show Black & Blue.”
“Oh. Oh yeah that’s a good point,” I resigned. I truly hadn’t noticed.

“Well thank you for coming in,” said the big executive in the four thousand dollar pants.
